Motovun
-Motovun is another wonder of Istra, some call it settlement, some a medieval burg, me, as a fan of RPG's i would call it a Rampart, it's easy to imagine that once on those hills were plenty of Unicorns and centaurs, just to mention the legend of Jason and The Argonauts who are supposed to have passed near this place upon the capture of the Golden Fleece.

It was also known for the use of wood which served to build Venice. Nowadays, the town has revived thanks to the Motovun film Festival which attracts tens of thousands of visitors in a single week at the end of july and beginning of august. One can take the old path to climb up to the city walls or simply take the bus – 'cause cars are not allowed except for the people actually living in Motovun.
I strongly recommend the walking path, there is so much to see and it's healthier. Once you are in the town don't miss the church. Stop by the local tavern, try some wine and truffles or any of the local specialties, you can't miss. When you go further in exploring the town, you'll find a marble plate in front of a house where the famous indi-car driver Mario Andretti was born. Perhaps if you are lucky you can encounter even him on the stairs of this ancient little lovely town. If you need more info about Motovun check out the Motovun film festival website http://www.motovunfilmfestival.com
And of course stop by our dear partners at the Hotel Kaštel (Castle)
